When the word becomes flesh in your life, would you recognize?

Think outside the box. God is outside the box.

“But although the world was made through him, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted.” John 1: 10-11.

When the word becomes flesh in your life, that is, when your answered prayer appears at your doorstep, though not in the form you thought it would come but it is what you need.  It is HIS will for you. It is what HE said HE will do.   Would you recognize?

Reading through the book of John, It amazes me how the children of Israel could not recognize Jesus as the messiah.  God had promised them the coming of the messiah in the scriptures.  This was also affirmed by the prophets and servants of God like Moses, David, and Isaiah.  It is also surprising that the religious leaders, who had spent years devoting their time to the studying of the scriptures, didn’t have enough insight to recognize that Jesus was the one they were all waiting for.  They were so blind that they could not see and too shallow that they could not perceive.

The book of John also reveals how the people of Israel oscillated between one time believing Jesus is the messiah, and another time doubting if he was for real.

God, who always kept his promise, had finally sent Christ-his only son- to come in the form of man and to dwell amongst them so as to communicate his message of love to his children.  He wanted to reconcile them back to him.  This was what they had been waiting for many, many years.

Imagine having asked and waited for something for a while and it finally arrives at your doorstep.  Then you opened the door, looked at it with a raised eyebrow, said ‘No’ and slammed the door on its face.   That would be all because you could recognize it.  Sometimes you were lucky, that it kept on knocking but you got mad. You opened the door and kicked its butts just like the children of Israel did when they eventually killed Jesus. He just didn’t look like what they expected.  You know, he was born in Bethlehem (“a lowly village in Judea”), grew up in Nazareth (a town that people thought “nothing good could come out of”), he had a day job, he didn’t drop from the sky like they thought, and many more pre-conceived ideas they had about the messiah.

Like the children of Israel, we unknowingly reject our long time heart desire, our finally ‘answered prayer’, the word that has become flesh in our lives, God’s promise that have finally arrived at the doorstep of our lives-just because it didn’t come how we expect or in the form we thought it would.  But it answers all your needs. It gives all the signs. Your heart is a witness that ‘this is it’.

We should not judge a book by its cover-especially with our static human ‘book judging’ perception.

You have to be able to recognize.

  • God won’t do it your way. He will do it his way

“My thoughts are completely different from yours,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine...”Is 55:8b

But most definitely HIS word will come to pass in your life. He says;

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word.  I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Is 55:10&11

  • Don’t let emotions and behaviours like pride, pity and perfectionism get in your way.  An answered prayer, a miracle, a blessing, or an opportunity comes in different forms.  And it might be in a form you do not expect. Sometimes they even come lowly...

“Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise.  And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world; things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.” 1Cor 1:27-29

  • You need to realise it is deliverance; no matter in what form it appears.  How God answers your prayers, meet your need or how HE gives you your breakthrough does not matter. What matters is that he’s answered

  • Stick with God. Keep being connected. Be like Prophet Samuel who was asked to go anoint the king of Israel in the house of Jesse.  He kept consulting with God who enabled him anoint the right man, David. Despite the fact that he had seen his brothers who ordinarily, matched the human perception of what a king should be like and look like.

“When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the LORD’s anointed!” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t make decisions the way you do! People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at a person’s thoughts and intentions.”1Sam16:6&7

When the word becomes flesh in your life and ‘he’ comes knocking. And ‘he’ is not in the form you thought or how you thought ‘he’ would come. But ‘he’ is here...

Your heart burns.
You are at peace.
The ‘WORD’ is evident.
The ‘SPIRIT’ witnesses.

Would you let him in? Would you accept?

Free your mind. Be spiritually alert.
