Let dead relationships rest

To get into a new one, you have to let dead relationships rest.

Now that my servant Moses is dead, you must lead my people across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them- Joshua 1:2

If that last relationship is dead, why don’t you let it rest?

If they had meant the country they came from, they would have found a way to go back. .. Heb11:15

How can you move forward when you think backwards?  You might probably be the one who asked God to come help you from the situation just like the Israelites did (Exodus3:7). And now that you are out, you are somehow contemplating of going back.

When he brought you out, he promised you and you craved for better.
Now, you are like on a journey to some ‘Canaan’ where there’s love, respect and joy.  This journey is one where you’ll walk side by side with God.   He is the one who comforts and directs you.  So, He needs you to be close to him and not worship other.   You need this time to recoup and don’t worry, you’ll reach your concern.

Oh, that we were back in Egypt,” they moaned, “It would have been better if the LORD had killed us there! At least there we had plenty to eat. But now you have brought us into this desert to starve us to death.”

He’ll be offended when you whine for the mediocre love and unfair treatment of relationships from your past.  Here, he is leading you to the best (cos he lets the best happen to his children, Read Matthew7:8-11 ) and you are whining about the guy who used you, beat you, treated you like crap, cheated on you, refused to love you and did not respect you.  You keep thinking that the bizarre experience/situation you had is better than this ‘wilderness’ you’re in now just because you don’t have what you want yet.

Please understand that you are on this journey to heal, to recover and to arrive at a place of restoration.  Your ‘wilderness’ season is to help you shed off every stigma of the past and for you to learn to put your utmost trust in God.  So, walk with him.

You won’t be here forever; He knows and cares about you.  He’s taking you to a point where everything will work together for your good.

Do not delay your journey by wishing for the past dead relationships- complaining voraciously about the lonely nights and cold pillow. Or by falling into the same situation, repeating the same mistakes and failing every test that come your way.

Break the cycle today.

If you called on him and he’s taking you through this 'time', please let him. Stop interrupting His work in your life.

When you do get there, you will see ‘Canaan’ is way better. You’ll see you can have true love, joy, peace, and every good thing all bundled in one; in one relationship, with one interesting man.

I leave you with the words of Apostle Paul;

Focus your energy on one thing, forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead- Phil 3:13
